Arjitha Sevas

Arjitham means Darshan or Seva to the Lord on payment of a fee as fixed by the Temple Management. Admission to any particular seva on payment of a fee is known as “Amantranotsavam”.

Vaikhanasa Agama

The Agamas, alongside the Vedas, hold a sacred position as primary Hindu scriptures. While all Agamas shed light on the science of rituals, the "Vaikhanasa Agama" stands out for its comprehensive guidance on temple and household rituals.

The "Vaikhanasa Agama" consists of two parts. The first part intricately explains the rituals conducted within the temple, particularly those dedicated to the presiding deity. The second part outlines the purification ceremonies essential for priests to serve in the temple.

Attributed to Sage Vikhanasa, the "Vaikhanasa Agama" is one of the four main "Vaishnava agamas." This profound knowledge was further disseminated across the world by Sage Vikhanasa's four disciples: Mareechi, Bhrigu, Kashyapa, and Atri.

For centuries, the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual arjitha sevas (ritual services) at Sri Vijaya Venkateshwara Tirupati Balaji Dhaam have followed the guidance of the Vaikhanasa Agama. This sacred text recommends six daily pujas, each contributing to various aspects of well-being and prosperity.

Although six pujas a day may not always be feasible, the agama suggests a minimum of one puja, emphasizing the importance of divine worship. Currently, at Sri Vijaya Venkateshwara Tirupati Balaji Dhaam, three pujas are performed daily: one in the morning, open to the public alongside the Thomala Seva, an abridged puja in the afternoon, and a private one at night, involving temple archakas, paricharakas, and acharya purushas.

“Shatkalam va Thrikalam va Dwikalam
Ekakalam va Pujanam Deva Devasya”

These principles of the Vaikhanasa Agama guide our rituals and sevas at Sri Vijaya Venkateshwara Tirupati Balaji Dhaam, aligning our practices with the rich traditions of Hinduism.
